Anyone else feel like there's usually way too much sex in yaoi?
idk man. it's just so excessive. it would be one thing if there was sex once every 5 chapters or something but it's usually an every chapter thing, with one sex scene often lasting multiple chapters. they'll even put a future sex scene in the first chapter before the main couple has even gotten together as a hook?? not only that but the sex is usually so formulaic and boring. ig that yaoi is just meant to be fap material for most people but as someone who actually reads yaoi for the shitty plots (because i like gay /romance/) it just gets so tiring. i don't have a problem with sex per se or i would avoid yaoi altogether, i just have a problem with the frequency of it in bl comics.
can anyone else relate?
inb4 "just read shounen ai": 1. i do read it, just not exclusively 2. most shounen ai is chinese manhua which i highkey am not a fan of

NGL i skip a lot of the sex scenes or just zip past them in most smut. I like a sex scene here or there but not just porn. Honestly i just want to read adult romance if that makes sense. I get through so many manhwas just because I'll skip several chapters because it's just pure sex. reply
Relatable. I don't really like to drop stories and if the plot is interesting? Yeah, it's hard to discontinue. If I wanted to read porn with no plot, I would go for another one, no? Mix the pot! We need the backstories, character development, emotional maturity, love confessions, world building, side characters, etc.

I only really get annoyed by it if it interrupts the plot lol. Like Kill Me If You Can. I'm interested in the plot and I enjoy it but oh my balls they CANNOT stop banging. I also dropped Dear Door cuz the amount of smut was driving me insane. Red Candy ALMOST had too much for me but it just managed to pull through.

nah. it all comes down to finding the ones that are just right for you, which takes a bit of experience and lots of patience. but i understand, it gets really, really frustrating. reply
