Like sure, I read things for the plot (a.k.a. the journey leading up to mutual romantic feelings - the slower the better), but ultimately it just looks like I read gay porn all day every day ... I also read plenty of low quality stuff that doesn't even fit my standards lol.
I can't even tell people I like manga or manhwa because then they'll ask w...... 2 reply
I thought this was gonna say "The girl that I liked wasn't a girl at all"
Anyways that's rough, sorry. Try to do something fun to take your mind off things reply
Genuine question, do you know of another popular site like this one that has a less porn-brained culture?
I've been here for quite a while and while I like this place being majority female, probably (I despise the objectification of girls/women you see when men are the majority), I am so tired of how rampant the fetishization is on here.
Like, BL...... 3 reply
We ancients are the superior race of mangagoers. Sorry if that bothers you :P
P.S. I will acknowledge that while mangago was way better in some ways (I much prefer how the culture used to be), it was also worse in other ways. I remember when I would call out rape, pedophilia, and racism and get criticized to hell and back lmao. And a lot more girl...... 1 reply
You're fine bro, and you're still really young (speaking as a young adult myself). Only matters if you are looking for a relationship, but if there's no one around you you feel attracted to, what's the rush? reply
I am incapable of gooning to anything (due to personal sex aversion), but one of the things I really enjoy is sadomasochistic characters who fight other people just to get off. Way better than actual sex imo. If you have any recs please let me know. reply
i was recently diagnosed with autism but can't relate to any of the main criteria tbh. i think i'm actually a dysfunctional allistic and that's what causes my social issues (i have severe social anxiety and ocd). so i was wondering how different autistic people feel compared to allistic people
idk man. it's just so excessive. it would be one thing if there was sex once every 5 chapters or something but it's usually an every chapter thing, with one sex scene often lasting multiple chapters. they'll even put a future sex scene in the first chapter before the main couple has even gotten together as a hook?? not only that but the sex is usually so formulaic and boring. ig that yaoi is just meant to be fap material for most people but as someone who actually reads yaoi for the shitty plots (because i like gay /romance/) it just gets so tiring. i don't have a problem with sex per se or i would avoid yaoi altogether, i just have a problem with the frequency of it in bl comics.
can anyone else relate?
inb4 "just read shounen ai": 1. i do read it, just not exclusively 2. most shounen ai is chinese manhua which i highkey am not a fan of
I have major social anxiety, procrastinate to a disgusting degree, and find it hard to clean up after myself. People keep thinking I have ADHD and/or autism when I'm actually just a weird neurotypical (I can relate to visible/external ND features but not to how their brains work). If you were/are in my shoes, would you correct people or just let them think you're ND?
I know this is a random question but just play along or ignore it :>
I just randomly lost interest a few months ago after being into this stuff for nearly a decade (apart from when I developed severe anhedonia a while back). I made a post about it a few weeks ago. Don't know what could have triggered it. I miss looking forward to updates for my favorite manga and manhwa. It sucks that they've all updated and I just don't care to read them, even though I was so invested in them before. Nothing has replaced this activity so I just spend my days scrolling Reddit.
I miss BL so much. Please, brain, take pity on me and let me actually feel like reading it again
If anyone else has gone through something like this before and wants to share their own experience, please do. Should I just give up on ever getting back into manga/manhwa and find new hobbies?
