I think rape in BLs are justified. Ik this is controversial but hear me out, if it wasn't for rape I don't think there would be any plot. There are so few healthy BL dynamics but they are so boooorriiinggg ugh. They feel like reading straight or soujo. Real shit is rape shit, it opens up so many ways for the author to take the plot. Rape BLs never disappoint.
While I do love a good toxic relationship, do you not think rape is hella overused as if some authors literally do not know how to write a toxic relationship without it? Like okay yea it's a part of a toxic relationship, but if that's all there is, it's just as bad as a boring plot.
