Because for some reason there's barely any good Yuri.
I wondered something similar many years back and was like "Yuri is literally just yaoi with women. And women are hotter. I'll try yuri" just to be hit with the most boring, dry plots ever. Meanwhile despite yaoi having similar plots to each their own...they still have their own special touch.
