your hypothetical situation means nothing. humans are built to be empathetic, if you're so concerned about people showing up, start from where you are- attend CPR classes, donate blood (even if that is moot), volunteer at soup kitchens; thinking that society is a travesty is just dismissive and playing into catharsis.

I've seen a lot of titles where the male lead by some circumstance becomes a cute little critter than the protagonist takes in. now there are a lot of roots which in can go back into, such as animal brides returning the favor, taking in a stranger into one's home, and I feel like it was okay when it was a full-blown beast societies where people can take on other forms~ and on that note, why are there some stories of where they have a juvenile and is adult?! so why are there stories about random bloodlines, secret societies about why only the male lead has a condition where they turn cute. honestly, I feel like the narrative shift from when they are revealed to by a full grown a** man turns for the worse- every single time. some of those pets SHOULD have been brought in to get neutered. like there are points when it's revealed that the pet bastard chooses keep their current identity to gain some advantage for their human identity
note: and if there are recs where the LOVE INTEREST isn't weird about it, feel free to send recs. the times it's not weird it is usually from the mc's perspective and even then power dynamics are usually at play
