ARTISTS ON MANGAGO. ASSEMBLE PLEASE!!
I've been trying to improve my art recently as I stopped drawing for a long time and decided to get back into it recently bcz I will NOT LET AI DOMINATE OVER ME. Thing is, I'm not getting any better. I have a MAJOR problem with drawing face proportions and perspectives but I just want to improve over all as an artist. To all the artists who draw manually or digitally or whatever medium you prefer, please give me your tips, your HOLY GRAIL, and help this clueless girlie out. Give me video recs, book recs, website recs, drawing exercises, or even if you use a specific digital platform and you have some tips of that. Literally everything counts. Doesn't even have to be about drawing only as well. Give me graphic design tips as well if you know anything. Just anything if you're generous enough please.
Sincerely, a burnt out girl in her 20s who let her passion and love for art die once and is going to do EVERYTHING to get it back.

Look at a lot of faces. No, seriously, just stare at faces and understand how their structure works (this can be anatomically like accounting for bone structure). Reading comics also helps, especially if you read comics with characters drawn in the style you want to draw in (I read Aisha) and it’s an overall great way to memorize faces.

For face proportions and perspective, I recommend grabbing a face panel either from your fav artist or your fav manhwa, paste it into your art app, use a colored pen and trace a base over it. After tracing a base, trace the features and see where the features line up on the base, then try doing it yourselves. (I literally have a clip studio documen...... 2 reply
Tracing omg. It helped so much when I was a beginner. Symmetry tool is also helpful to get things even but obviously not for everything. Pinterest is also amazing cause you can mostly look up anything for tips and stuff and it will be there, I also find it helpful to be in a art server on discord for tips when I can’t figure out how to do somethi...... 1 reply
Going to address the P.S. right off the bat—but preach. Human craft shall never die. Keep drawing!
Anyways, digital commission artist here, with a story, some tips and a book recc.
I stagnated for a looong while at some point, but I was not at all satisfied with where my skills were. My usual source of improvement was not helping, but at some p...... 1 reply
I recommend starting with some life drawing classes. Try drawing real things and real people first. This will help a lot with understanding placement, proportions, perceptive, and even shading. After some understanding, you can simplify to an anime style if that's what you are aiming for. Learn the basics first, then you can branch out to what you'...... reply
I've always found gesture & figure drawing the most helpful.
It's more effective for me to see how everything interacts as a whole rather than trying to understand individual muscles n all that. The two above were done in my life drawing class, but a website I really like is Line of Action https://line-of-action.com/ You basically just pick whate...... reply
