Does anybody else miss fandom etiquette?
I miss when there wasn't even a large split between 'proship/profic' and 'anti' people because there was always the understanding that if you didn't want to see something you just wouldn't interact with it and you'd mind your own business. At the very least, you wouldn't publicly harass eachother. I mean, there were always circles for different people but now it's so violent when you disagree... like even with ships and media in general. If something was your NOTP and you still interacted with the ship just to not be into it, you were seen as the asshole. Don't even get me started on how lots of people don't make content or comment on fanworks now...
It feels like nobody wants to actually participate in fandom and be part of a community anymore... :(
Not gonna touch on the whole proship discourse but I’m ngl… I think fandoms have always been really toxic and horrendous (ie shipping wars, doxxing, harassment stuff that’s always been around)
More specifically I’ve seen this in like kpop, anime, or cartoon fandoms …the Steven universe fandom was so nyasty at one point
Like that one oth...... 1 reply
