Ok so I was going through a list of bl and non bl recommendations and I realized I was avoiding most of the Chinese one because of bad experience. Doesnt mean I hate all Chinese manhua/bl but goddamn sometimes I stand there like “why am I reading this” also you can often tell by the art style. Is that kinda racist?

I think you're thinking way too deeply about this. Unless you have a genuine prejudice against Chinese people in a general sense which then, in return, makes you avoid and dislike their comics SPECIFICALLY I'd reevaluate but then again idk…I don't see why you should force yourself to read anything you don't wanna read. I used to read only Chinese manhua but now I barely read them because of their art style. Idk why but Chinese art style all have this blandness to them that I can not get into. 12 years old me would've been gagged but now that I'm older, I don't find them appealing anymore and only read Korean of Japan. Short answer is: not necessarily. At least for me, I don't read them very often because almost all the ones I have found have absolutely terrible translation and many didn't have very good art either. I simply have certain requirements when it comes to quality. reply
Nope. You’re allowed to dislike specific things so long as you don’t hate or judge the people group that made them and you’re respectful about it. And it seems like you’re being respectful about it so it’s all good. reply
Also for more context, as a black women if someone came to me and was like “I don’t read black stories anymore because of bad experiences I had with them” I would be like “tf” so im either racist or an hypocrite.
