I have an unpopular opinion, and I’d love to get some insight and opinions from others.

I think I kind of understand why those CEOs, or anyone in general, go looking for substitutes for their beloved.

When you love something a lot, more than anything or anyone else, and then suddenly they’re somewhere you can’t reach and they’re possibly there forever, a hole will form in your heart that takes the shape of them, and it is beyond painful, and the only way to relieve yourself of the pain is the fill the hole in your heart. Now, if the other thing or person is way beyond your reach then how will you fill that hole? An easy way to do so is to find something/someone that reminds you of them so much that it heals that hole in your heart.

It may not be the most moral, and you know deep down that nothing will replace that thing or person, but its hard to be rational sometimes, and you end up craving anything that will make you feel like you are in the presence of the one you love. You want any sort of trace of them, and once you get a trace, you will want more and more. It is human nature to want more, and it is also part of being human to want affection/give affection, and when that affection has a target, coupled with that greed, you will eventually be unable to be rational and will go any lengths to feel the way you felt with that thing or person again.

There are also the more rational and tolerant people that choose to keep their love associated with only the real deal and refuses to fill the hole with another thing/person, but that doesn’t mean their love is greater than the person who looks for a replacement. It just depends on how well you can tolerate having a hole in you, and how long you can go without giving love.

In most of the ceo-substitute novels that are purely for dog blood, they don’t actually love the “real deal.” They are just obsessive and egotistical, upset that they can’t have what they want and then seek other ways to fulfill that desire of dominating and having control over the “real deal.” You could call it like, but never love.

But occasionally, there will be some ceo-substitute novels where they genuinely loved the “real deal” and it is evident through how they treat the substitute. Of course these are rare because it’s not mainstream and theres not much dog blood in these types, because no one likes to read about love these days yk?

We are often reading from the substitute’s side so of course we feel upset for them and will feel hate for the other person, but I wonder if we will ever get one from the other perspective, where we get to see their love, wounds, and the ways they go about healing their wounds. Again, its not the most moral, but I think some of them are deserving of sympathy, because they are simply unable to be rational and keep their emotions in check, and that is not something we can control. They simply want to heal and experience that love again, not the receiving type of love, but the giving type of love.

I want to know what you guys think! I like to talk and express opinions about stuff like this, and a lot of people have very insightful thoughts.
