Does the romance you read ever inspire you in your approach to relationships?
I know romance stories aren't seen as a guide to real life relationships and readers don't always see it as something they'd want to have for themselves, I'm just curious if there was anything you've read in your romance, like a gesture or a small thing/big thing that inspired you to want do something similar for your partner, if you were/are in a relationship.
For me, when I read BL, I really appreciate how it portrays men being vulnerable and cherished in ways that go against traditional gender roles. It’s made me want to express affection in similar ways like getting my partner flowers and doing other small cheesy gestures. I'm a single pringle though ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
the only thing the shit I read inspired me to do is to raise my standards
major kwak took 3 bullets, ran into a zombie infested building, survived an exploding helicopter, survived being thrown off a cliff in handcuffs, survived an execution from the military after being shot 3 times and went on a journey in the bum fuck of russia all for Dr.seok, ...... reply
Yes. I get my date and gift ideas from romances. For example, the guildmate next door beach is what made me inspire to celebrate valentines on a beach. Not to mention it kinda makes me learn things and also see from the other pov. I mainly read fluffy BLs so I guess that's why I kinda get some good advices from there, but not all the time they work...... reply
I'm an asexual aromantic, but yes romance definitely inspires me when it comes to the stories I write and the characters I create! Since I can't experience those feelings myself, romance in media helps me to imagine what romantic love feels like and then project that on my characters~ 1 reply
