Does top and bottom positions matter to anybody else or is it just me? Like idk I just can’t read stuff where someone is in a position I don’t imagine them in at first like ik this is weird but it just throws me off so badly. I obviously won’t hate on smth if the positions arent what I expect but I lowk just can’t continue enjoying it T-T it’s only rlly with yaoi too like for yuri Im fine with either of them “topping” and in straight smut when I feel like reading it idrc if the girl is pegging the dude or he’s putting it in its just with yaoi for some odd reason. Im fine with switching though we need more of that but when they have set positions and it’s not what I envisioned I just can’t aughhhh. Im usually able to tell positions most of the time too so this isn’t really a big problem, it’s mainly just in fics with my fav ships. Maybe it has something to do with personally and characterization that goes into this? I’ve had this problem for a while and I just wish I cared less. Maybe it also has something to do with power imbalance(?) like how I usually like bottoms to be buff or more masculine ones or just stronger then the top Im some way. Pls help

Before the cancellers arrive, I'm here to agree and support you. I too am unable to proceed with reading a certain series if it does not fit my preferences. Ofc there are exceptions but I also generally love buff bottoms, twink tops or even better: the same build and height!

Literally every time I go on ao3 I have to filter out “Top Jabber” and “Bottom Zanka” cause I can’t freaking stand it ts pmo so badly. I’ve TRIED to read bottom zanka but they always make him into a twink and remove all of their personality’s cause I fear that it automatically becomes super ooc when Jabber tops with how he acts in can...... 3 reply
Actually this happens to me too I just sometimes can't enjoy some ships on AO3 without checking the top and bottom tags like ik this is weird but it's only for some specific ships other than that I am all cool with switches reply
thats just called having a preference- absolutely nothing wrong with that! The situation your describing is only a problem when you personally take offence that the author depicted them in that way and actually feel inclined to harrass them about it. Ur tastes are valid but only valid to yourself and theres nothing wrong with that reply
Dw im a queer dude and I do feel the disappointment. Sometimes it won't matter to me and it's okay tolerable but most times no. Heck I did not like the idea of jigu bottoming from some ppl who expected him to be so. It's like you wanted to see this dude bottom lol.
