What’s something you liked/supported that everyone hated and criticized but now people seem to love?
Just the title and I'm curious on how it's shaped you or what you took away from that experience.
For me, a few years ago I started paying attention to the Hailey vs Selena discourse and actually came to like Hailey a lot. At the time, it felt like people were constantly twisting things to fit a certain narrative, and I remember thinking “why can’t people just let these narratives go?”
Nowadays though, it feels like she has a better public reception. I see more people recognizing or celebrating her as a trendsetter or icon, even though there are still people who don’t like her.
But I think from it, it's made me appreciative for when people can shift from being unfairly critical and hateful of something to viewing it more fairly over time.
Anyways I'm curious if you guys ever had something you liked or supported that everyone hated and criticized but now seem to love. And what you took away from that.
when i was a kid i was super into anime and it hadn’t quite been excepted like it is now where im from. i grew up watching older animes with my dad. I was watching it in elementary school and i’d often get made fun of for it by other kids. adults in my life used to criticize the art styles too, saying it was weird and unrealistic. now I feel ...... reply
