poor uke trope
Why is the poor woman/uke trope so common? i always found it uncomfortable but one of the things that made me feeling worse is the fact that everytime a k-drama/manwha uses this trope it's almost ALWAYS the person in the relationship which is perceived as more feminine, either being a woman or being a bottom (yes i know bottoms aren't always twinks, but even while being masculine they're still percieved as "the woman in the relationship" by a lot of people.) which maybe I'm too woke but it feels awfully misogynist and icky.
I know that this trope was used in Western media as well. Cinderella falls under that trope too, at least in my opinion, and maybe I'm not consuming enough west media to notice, but it feels way more common and popularized in korea. Is there a specific reason why poverty is so romanticized there, or just power unbalance in general?
at first i thought it was like really weird and uncalled for, but as i watched alot of kdramas and other media with a poor bottom or woman, i kind of just thought that it might be because the show makers wanted to popularize their show by keeping the main central attention towards an ordinary, living pay check off of pay check girl and a ceo or a v...... reply
