when i see a low rating i usually check the albums first to see if the arts are to my taste, and then i check out the comments to see if there's any context on the lower rating. if there's no clear reasons i just read it first and figure out from there. so anyway, don't trust the ratings. 8.0 is not THAT low, but anything below that usually deserve......
