Controversial opinion
Do u guys have any controversial opinion(s)? If so, please share it.
My controversial opinion is that u can't ever have kids(by birthing or adopting) if ur not stable financially. No, I don't mean that u have to be rich, but u have enough to feed them 3 times a day, have shelter, provide any medical needs(like checkups with the dentist, u don't know how bad teeth can literally fk u up so bad), fun activities(such as school trips. I've seen wayyy to many of my peers feeling so embarrassed not being able to go somewhere because they can't afford to spend 5 dollars), and necessities such as clothes, shoes, and any school supplies.
AND anyone who wants to be a parent should be investigated. Do they have any mental illness?? Health issues? Debts?? (And more.)
Apparently, this is a very controversial opinion to have.. but I don't think so. This is such a normal opinion, imo. And I don't mean that u HAVE to be rich, nobody is saying that. But u have to have the means of doing the bare minimum, cuz being poor can affect kids tremendously. That's alll
But how would you even enforce something like this? Forced abortions? Sterilizations? I don't think it's controversial to think you should have the means to take care of any kids you birth or take in but "u cant ever have kids" isn't gonna be something that can be enforced without the government completely overstepping its bounds in a way that lowk...... 1 reply
Sad truth but if that was the standard to have kids, we would have a quickly declining birth rate (at least in America). With wage disparities growing and cost of living increasing rapidly, most people cant afford kids in the way you’re saying they need to (without going into debt). Number one:
People especially white people care more about animals mostly dogs than any black or homeless person more than kids.
They’ll break their bones trying to save a dog but barely do anything for a kid/cat/another ethnic groups

I watched a video that talked about how through evolution, human babies are born prematurely and weaker than other animal babies, making them heavily dependent and in need of constant care. Because of this humans evolved to be cooperative breeders, to have the efforts of the village be used to raise a child.

Since it seems this is mainly about parenthood, I’ll add my two cents:
Parents are selfish.
basically I’m trying to say that every kid is alive because their parents wanted them without regard to what that potential kid might want it’s all a oír what the parents wanted. reply
Idk if this is controversial but not wanting to be friends with someone because they “hate” or dislike kids is dumb asf no one is obligated to like kids and not being friends with someone because they don’t like kids or calling them a bad person is just dumb reply

Although the economy has been getting ROUGH. They're definitely a lot of parents out there who wanted kids as an accessory and didn’t consider their financial standing
