Not bl/gl = bad writing??

**Sometimes** when I read a bad romance manga/manga on this site I see people blaming it on the characters being straight? Like saying stuff like "het slop" etc.
I dont read BL or GL but does the characters sexuality influence the quality of the story? Thanks for reading
