The submissive one is always the mc in stories, in hetero ones where its romance based mc is always a girl, in gl ones mc is always the bottom, same goes for bl, it generally existed in wlm stories first then wlw & mlm authors followed the same pattern. I really enjoy seme protagonists. This only works well when the uke is a strong character, both literally and figuratively. Readers wouldn't want a bottom to be sidelined. I specially love those when they are a power couple. I hope to discover more and for the novels I read with this trope to be adapted soon.   reply

I'm always down for new and different approaches in a genre filled with cliches and formulaic stories, so I support your grievance in principle. thinking it over, I think most of the stories I've read and liked gave input from both characters even if it's primarily from the pov of one character. that said, this is a real rabbit hole of a question........   reply
