I don't think I will ever lose respect for her, but she has some deeply internalized misogyny convincing her that she will never be as good as her male coworkers. She also has way too many regrets stemming from her oppressive home and manchild husband. She thinks she's failed in life just because some of her classmates are doing better than her.
