Somebody convince me Korean animation does NOT suck.
Korean animation is so fucking bad TT. I watched Alien Stage, Quiet Please, and Mignon. I did also watch Shining Star but since it was made by a company who used more modern anime techniques, I will not be taking shit about it since I honestly really liked it. OMG I FORGOT!! I also watched hello jadoo too. I think im giving flack only for the popular ones that are not family friendly sorry cuz some do the Korean animation films are actually fire and have good voice acting.
1) Korean animation tends to be very clunky… this means movements are never smooth and it just looks like a half assed animation that made the storyboard frame into 10-15 animation frames. I know that Attack on Titan gets a lot of flak for being like 10 frames per second in certain scenes, but oml it’s on a whole different dimension than those Korean animations I watched. For such a short runtime and series, I genuinely don’t understand why they can’t put more budget into making it look more fluid.
2) Why is the pacing always so god-damn awful? Like dude, sure, the concepts can be fascinating and all but each episode feels like the story is doing an Any% (if u don’t know what that means, it’s like when people try to get through a game really fast, and they tend to just do the bare minimum as a result). I personally didn’t like those three animations cuz they kind of made each episode feel like a BTS album trailer lol
. I remember being so into them when I was younger. Id like even watch them before I got on a plane. Anyways, they all tend to have deep messages (or imply as deep) and then make the viewers crazy trying to make theories or whatnot.
3) tell me why all the voice actors suck… like dude, if they got voice actors even from Shining Star, I would have been so dang happy but they find these random dudes who all seem to have the same kind of vibe. To me, it’s comparable to a whining dog or a gamer boy who is drinking his sorrows away after losing an E-tournament. Like dawg… even sex scenes tend to not even sound good. Everything feels forced. As somebody who used to consume eroge/otome games, I can kinda tell when smth sounds forced or not but I haven’t had a bf or anything so I kinda do not actually know how actual sex sounds like haha. I don’t even like watching sex scenes in a film cuz I honestly think it’s weird to broadcast that on tape plus I’m not an advocate of porn concerning real individuals.
4) i think I just don’t really like how much the animes rely on theories in order to be considered good. At that point just make it a short film and call it a day. Short films tend to get really popular anyways so I don’t understand why people don’t tend to do that instead. Yet, short films tend to have complete stories, which don’t need as much detective work. LORD, I do not have time to do this… plus for an anime w mid art, below average voice acting and a short runtime, it’s less worth it to me than watching an 8-hour long play of Elder Scrolls.
There are so many talented Korean animators on YouTube, including idk if u guys remember his name but it’s a guy who did a couple of animations with his childhood version of himself. He had more of a Conan type hairstyle with red shorts and suspenders with a white shirt and he’d just be doing shenanigans w his friends. Hes been not really active so far which is a shame.
This may seem like ragebait but I literally need people to tell me that they also think similarly cuz I cannot be the only one.
