Something that I've come to realize is, I can't just like or trust people for having read lots of stories, even across different genres. Like I can't just trust them whenever they open their mouths in discussions about stories. It's because I've seen a few people online who would have lots and lots of reads under their belt, across different genres, but when you see them talk in discourses they don't try to bring any new insights that you think they would have because they've read more and seen more. Instead they just reinforce a dominant narrative, spew their own generalizations and contribute to the flattening of different groups of readers into a single 'understanding', etc.
Sometimes people who've read more don't say or try to say more useful shit. It has been truly eye opening having this revelation. I feel like a wrinkle has formed in my brain.
I have insight, baseball is gay and basketball is straight. I see a lot of shoujos where the ml is a basketball player while in bls most of the time the ml is a baseball player. Does that mean anything idk but i have noticed it
