Side Couples
Does anyone else get annoyed when a side couple has more scenes than the main?
I absolutely adore (cute) main couples and I hate that I see more scenes of a side couple, especially when their relationship sucks. It's even more annoying when literally majority of the story just focuses on a side couple, at this point just make the story about them.. I feel like it would've made more sense to put a side couple (who take more scenes than the main) into side stories or have a whole story for them.
No shade ig but it's just really annoying when I read about a main couple, how cute, loveable, and adorable they are, gradually progress into a problematic, annoying, and waste of space side couple. Some don't even contribute to the story, they're just there to take majority of the scenes of their lame relationship. (I love toxic, but it genuinely gets to a point that it literally becomes stupid, just leave each other alone lmao)
omg yes i hate side couples, esp when they are midway through the main couples story. id rather the main couple be finished with, then if there must be a side couple it can happen then so i don't have to skip through chapters just to find the main couple again. and it also annoys me when the rival from the main couple, or someone that wronged them ...... 1 reply
It really depends on which couple's more interesting to me. Sometimes I'd rather we focus on the side and ditch the main, sometimes the opposite. reply
I can't relate when it comes to stories like all about lust, liveta and love so pure because the side couples are honestly better than the main, but on MAJORITY of stories the side couple has some sort of incest trope or a toxic co dependent relationship that's trash asl
Also heavy agree on the saperate side story for the side couple or just allot...... reply
Personally, I don't care if the main couple is lovable ,toxic or annoying.They are the main couple and they should take priority. I despise side couples when they suddenly become the main characters all of a sudden. Idc if the side are prettier, healthier. I genuinely will turn into their biggest haters if they get more scene then the main couple. 1 reply
Same!! I'm always baffled to see people wishing for more side couples and even complaining if there are no side couples. When I'm reading a story I'm reading it for the main couple, the one that the whole plot is about and the one that attracted me in the first place, so when another couple randomly starts taking over half of the chapters I just ge...... reply
I hate it even more we get side stories and the side stories are like 9186 chapters of the side couple and 1 chapter for the main couple like I'm sorry but at this point just make a new story reply
Actually, I do understand this a lot.
And the funniest thing is that it almost always happens when the side couple is some super toxic whatever and the main couple is a cute whatever. I personally feel like the side couple doesn't get THAT many "main scenes" iykwim, but because the side couple is more interesting they overshadow the main couple. reply
i tend to like the female side characters in bl a lot more, which are typically the sibling, friend, assistance, mother, etc. & how i wish they dedicated the side chap stories to them instead. gl side stories would be sick reply
