Aight so basically I’m in a group of 3 friends, and we like talking bout ourselves a lot. So we pretty damn open about deep stuff like lgbtq or like gender. Also we all like anime lol.
So I kinda need advice cause uh one of my friends.... said they identified as a trap. My other friends are rly supportive about him being... a trap. I’m pretty damn confused and I don’t know what to do. Basically this was the text-
“I don't know how to put this but... ||I am officially a trap, this is not a joke, I really felt like I needed to tell someone, I still want people to think I'm a boy, however, I want the people I trust to know I am actually a trap, I don't identify as a girl, I identify as a trap, hopefully you guys will support me, I'm going through alot||“
So..... I’m confused what to do and I’m just lookin for advice.

first of all he probably shouldn't use the term "trap" I was in a group at FB and if someone used the word trap at least five people said it was a bad term because it suggests that a male person which wear women clothes traps someone or something like that (I was to afraid of them to ask more)

Just treat him like u usually do. I mean yeah u sound like ur ok about it so I'm not really sure what advice u need right now...if ur friend is happy thats all that matters. reply
to start off, please stop using the word "trap," believe it or not it's actually bad for trans people since "traps" are often viewed as comedy relief in media so we, as much as possible, avoid that term (won't be elaborating much on this since you pretty get the gist of what i'm saying).
just treat your friend the same way you treated him before. ...... reply
HmI asked the question, but I just wanna elaborate.... the question is mostly what does he mean by “I identify as a trap”... as in a cross dresser? Like traps in anime at least are just boys being confused as girls right? So... how is that like a sexuality or like an identity? I’m not confused how to treat him lol, I’ll treat him exactly t...... reply
At most you should ask your friend why he specifically chose the word trap over crossdresser or female impersonator or that he prefers to dress in feminine clothing. I think the term trap is problematic and that should be addressed, but other than that don't do anything just let your friend be himself. reply
oohhh i get what you mean. i used to be confused with how to act or deal with trans people bc i dont understand and people i asked dont explain. from my experience, research. i researched a lot! and i realized that not all trans are what i imagined them to be and most are pretty wholesome uwu.

I don't think i really understand what a "trap" is, is it like trans? But, if this person is really your friend and you care about them then you will care about them whether they are trans/ like wearing certain clothing, etc. Maybe its a phase or maybe its not, either way, as a friend it is your responsibility to show kindness and understanding.
