Being a horror fan isn't the same as 'dark romance' fans
Specifically dark romance where the whole plot is sexual abuse or toxic asf. I will never understand as to why some people use the logic "oh but horror fans love serial killers" Yeah for how scary they are usually. Not to mention most of these serial killers aren't even realistic, because they cannot be killed somehow. Not to mention, the authors write them in a way to scare you and hate them. Whereas with dark romance, you'd see it be glorified and by glorified, is somehow the lead is gonna be redeemable at the end of the story. Despite them coercing the mc previously in chapters. Like why we trynna do Stockholm Syndrome??
These two genres are completely different, and therefore not a "proof" That your toxic ass series isn't affecting society when it quite does.
2014 Slenderman Killings.
2002 Vampire killing.
2006 in Idaho.
Uh...
1981 based off of the movie Taxi Driver.
There's more, but off the top of my head literally...

You can put it down, you can walk away, you can experience its events in your mind together with the main character on your own terms in an environment you have control of. I remember having an argument with someone years ago claiming that being a lolicon and a horror fan is the same because they both give you a 'positive experience' like wtf apparently the adrenaline you feel from being scared and the arousal or whatever you feel getting off to the loli's is the same because they're both feeling something "positive" ...... 1 reply
