Genuinely why are self harm victims so disrespected by people

I've noticed this alot, especially people making memes about how self harm victims in discord used to seek attention like it's supposed to be funny. They always make them out to be creepy and crazy people who cut themselves for fun....
Everyone is okay with trauma until it's self harm like so many people shame us for having scars and it's so disrespectful tbh.
