No more Eurydice

Who do you think Eurydice is in this story? Heejae..garam..or the former manager?
My personal favourite interpretation
Heejae
I think the Orpheus and Eurydice parallel with Heejae and Garam is actually more interesting if you don’t interpret “looking back” as something inherently bad.
In the myth, Eurydice is already in the world of the dead while Orpheus is still on the side of the living, and he eventually goes down there to reach her That immediately makes me think of Heejae, because he feels like someone who has been living in his own version of an underworld for basically his entire life, while Garam is the one who becomes obsessed with reaching him.
But what really stands out to me is the act of "looking back",
I’ve never believed that Orpheus looking back has to represent a lack of faith or some kind of failure, I’ve always interpreted it as him needing to see Eurydice (to actually look at the person he loves and make sure she’s there )And if you apply that reading to Garam, it makes their dynamic even more interesting
Garam is the one who’s closer to the “living world" which means he’s the one who has to turn around and look back toward Heejae,And that could tie into how Garam becomes sharper and colder after meeting him. He has to look back in order to truly see Heejae, understand him, and make him feel seen in a way that nobody else has,
At the same time, Heejae is the one following Garam,He becomes obsessed with Garam’s music, and that music almost acts as a guide toward warmth and comfort something outside of the world he’s been trapped in, Which feels SO similar to Eurydice following Orpheus, whose lyre is what leads her toward him
So I don’t think the parallel is simply “Garam is Orpheus and Heejae is Eurydice”
It feels more like they’re mirroring different parts of the myth
Heejae is the one trapped in the underworld and drawn toward Garam’s music, while Garam is the one who has to turn around and look back at him
And if looking back is an expression of love rather than simply a mistake, then that adds a whole other layer to their relationship
