"Realism" in stories
How do you guys feel about people defending stories with "well it's realistic"? I've seen this expressed in two different stories this week, and it's only ever used to describe characters being forgiven for bs as soon as the story finishes. I asked this in the homepage comments and got two really interesting responses so i would like to see more opinions.
realism means suffering consequences and not suffering consequences. there is a spectrum of results to any scenario so any reaction is possible. people do forgive others that have hurt them and its actually something I've seen often (even though it may be wrong). i think that works should have creative discretion and freedom on how a story goes as ...... reply
