So like am i an asshole?
Genuine question, lmao, My brother who has a daughter, she's about four sometimes they need someone to look after her since both parents has work, one has work from home and the other has to commute from home, so they need someone sometimes to look after their daughter,. Sometimes they call me and my sister to babysit, they do give small amount of money after hours of baby sitting, so like 100php(Philippines money) if we decline, our brother gets annoyed about it since we can't even look after our own niece. So he asked me again and told him i can only do an hour after he dropped off his wife from work then go home then i can go home after, but he did not like my answer of immediately going home, the thing is, I'm in my early twenties, i maybe unemployed but I'm still practicing to do interview or stuff for the job i wanted so like does that make me a bad aunt or sister? Beside, he only needs to dropped off his wife until he can get home while my babysitting my niece, i don't even need to stay long but typical guys who wants help of taking csre of their children so he can have time for himself
As someone who took care of others' kids all the time, no, you do not owe your brother anything to take care of the baby, you're also busy with your life, especially now that you're in a sensitive area where getting a job is important for stability. If you're uncomfortable babysitting then just decline, you don't need a man's opinion on a matter he...... reply
Jusmio 100 pesos lang? It can’t even buy shit.
He shouldn’t have a kid if he can’t take full responsibility. One hour to baby sit is already too much for me unless the parent has some urgent matters to do. The thing with Filipino is having a younger siblings means free baby sitter ( oh there’s got a 100 php)
You’re not an asshole, abs...... 2 reply
nah it's lowkey weird that ur brother doesn't want to pay you as a soon to be jobless hoe I would try to get as much money as I can help just wants to guilt trip you into not asking for payment just cause of some siblings bonds you probs have to tell you brother that your time is also important even if he may not understand I know several people ...... reply
You don't owe him anything honestly and just the fact that you're willing to help him and babysit your niece until he gets back home should already be enough. He's absolutely not entitled to your time. I know daycare can get quite expensive but he can't just expect you to drop everything you have to do to look after his child. They should've thou...... reply
Update:
So i told him, i can only stay until he drops off his wife to work then get home, and explained him that I've been practicing and looking for work.
"Okay, never mind. It's okay you're busy anyway. Sorry for inconvenience (Sige, wag na, okay lang busy ka naman, sorry sa abala)" Which feels like sarcastic or guiltripping way because he is li...... 4 reply
I think people expect a village when it comes to kids but that village is gone. He does need to figure out his daycare issues. No one wants to pay but it’s short term until school aged. But whatever you do. Your brother will remember. If you don’t help him now. Don’t expect any help in return in the future. Money. Housing. Future babysitting ...... 2 reply
