the Cornell situation
it's absolutely disgusting that a university that is an IVY league mind you, are allowing and even putting this scandal aside by firstly: covering it up for TWO YEARS! secondly, the rapists simply getting little to no consequences of a CRIME, their punishment was an essay? AN ESSAY. While the poor women, who suffered in the hands of their stupid men, had to quietly leave the school, cause she couldn't take it anymore. This made me think of a crime at the university of Melbourne where a man was found filming and up-skirting as many as 150 women in bathrooms and public toilets. Put this into perspective of HOW MANY CRIMES THAT HAVE BEEN LOCKED AWAY! It's horrible that women can't even be safe in the same safes that 'declared' that they should feel safe in! SHAME on them all
The worst part is from the perspective of the university, it's actually a pretty reasonable decision. I don't feel like the case in of itself is that special, what makes it special is the fact that the girl actually went to court with the school.
If you're raped at a university, no matter what the university does, they're going to come out looking...... 1 reply
