Parents
What are your thoughts on being best friends with your parents?
Some people might say, “I see my mom or dad as my best friend. I can tell them everything.”
Personally, I have a bit of a problem with that statement or way of thinking (maybe because I haven’t had a good relationship with my own parents). I feel like a parent should remain a parent like someone who guides you, sets boundaries, and takes responsibility for you. Calling them your best friend almost feels like you’re “downgrading” their role as a parent somehow.
And no, I’m not saying you can’t have a good relationship with your parents or talk to them about things that bother you. Of course, that’s one of the best things you can have with a parent! But I don’t think you necessarily need to share absolutely everything with them in the same way you would with a friend, or treat each other as if you’re the same age and on the same level.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me who sees it this way.. What do you guys think?
The symptoms for abusive parents and "best friend" parents are the same. Like, I'm not even exaggerating, some fo them are almost 1:1 with some differences.
To list some:

2. issues with emotional regulation
3. enmeshment
4. difficulty forming adult relationships
