I hardly look at the rating because of that. Some stories get good ratings because of the art and/or smut rather than the plot. What I noticed is that if a story has a lot of three-star ratings, then it is pretty meh. I think that's about as far as you can trust the rating system.   reply

I think the easiest way to resolve this is to arrange a face-to-face meeting, preferably with your mom present. I think seeing him in person would help immensely, even if she doesn't talk to him.
