I hardly look at the rating because of that. Some stories get good ratings because of the art and/or smut rather than the plot. What I noticed is that if a story has a lot of three-star ratings, then it is pretty meh. I think that's about as far as you can trust the rating system. reply
The MC you described reminds me of Zenitsu Agatsuma, one of the main characters of Demon Slayer. (I've never actually read/watched Demon Slayer, but I've seen some clips and analysis videos on this character.
