Hard to say. Probably not I guess. Urahara said it before, that human and soul reaper and Quincy and hollow keep each other in check. I think it would have been nearly impossible for his powers to awaken on their own because of this. The MC you described reminds me of Zenitsu Agatsuma, one of the main characters of Demon Slayer.
