I don't think there is an averal age to start to read yaoi... I've started to read shonen ai and hentai (I was quite curious for my age) and watch porn when I was around 11-12 years old. I got to know the term yaoi when I was in middle school about 13 to 14 years old but before that I watched Gravitation without knowing it was considered to be a yaoi anime.
