Back then, you could find titles in the Boys Love genre, but I don't remember much, if any, explicit stuff being available where I was. My first anime was Toei's "The Little Mermaid" which came to the States on VHS in the late 1970's. My mom rented it for me at the video store and I was totally enchanted! I had never seen a cartoon like that before. I still prefer it to the Disney version. I've enjoyed anime ever since. 2 reply
