So many people are obviously feeling strongly about this - but how many manga are out there with a teacherxstudent relationship? The sheer amount of comments here is quite incredible!
That is not to say that what happened was really wrong, and that this girl is rather nasty, it is just a little surprising to see how many people hate her for her utter lack of maturity - a common thing for high school girls crushing - crushes are - by definition - dangerous.
Although she's young and is allowed to be immature due to her age, her actions also has consequences. In this case a traumatized main character who was at the time a little angel.
For me, and I think for must of us, the teacher x student relationship wasn't the problem, but the fact that she shredded Shirotani's innocence and sexualized his feelings for his dad as said by Bumbumbums.
I agree there is a lot of hatred, but I won't deny I also thought: "¡Maldita!" (damn you!).
I don't wish for her to die but I would want her to grow up and mature away from Shirotani and his dad, she has already caused them a lot of harm.
Too true. I was supremely surprised over the comments going crazy with the age gap/ senseixstudent thing going on cuz i have read tons of yaoi with that genre and nobody ever cried "pedo!" even when the student conterpart was acting immature. I get the hate , in fact i empathize and if it was up to me, i'd like to print and make a cardboard cutout of that girl just so that i could treat it as a punching bag before cutting it pieces and i won't stop cutting until i see blood and i will end it all by burning it to the grond! MIAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ha...ha... Ehem, sorry, i was sure i was going somewhere but my biased hatred towards the little bitch sidelined me so... Bye.
that girl is sick i swear. who's fucking around just to spit a kid in some stupid argument? she just want to vent out her own frustration and jealousy to shiro who's get his parent's love conditionally (of course, because he's shiro's parent)
and his dad is at fault too, for bringing a (female) student to your house, especially high school student without her parents is a big no-no. i don't think his dad is a bad guy, he's only a bad parent-figure
THIS!!! PREACH IT. Compared to other teacher x student manga this one was portrayed to be more real than most. Shoujo manga always beautifies the love between the teacher and student and illustrates it as innocent and such. But the relationship between this teacher and female student is much more real in the sense that these type of relationships IN REAL LIFE are not right in most people's eyes. And just like you said the relationship between his father and the female student HAS real life consequences compared to most shoujo mangas that don't fully touch on this aspect. A child's innocence was lost due to her and his father's actions. IN ALL: shirotani is a precious cinnamon roll too good and pure for this world.(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Yaoi and Lolicon/shotacon do similar things - beautifying relationships that should not happen - but I do know of a real life case of studentxteacher - because it happened between my 8th grade teacher and his student, and another one in University between my 65 year old teacher and his 22 year old grad student (actually he went through three grad students in my four years at University - I had to have this man teach me for three of my years there because he was the only teacher they had for the course load I was studying) And another case where an ex-acquaintance (24 at the time) was caught living with his 13 year old lover ...
I think the reason why so many people are SO ANGRY is because she intentionally did all of that in front of Shirotani. Now THAT is just sick, especially considering all the problems Shirotani has had to face growing up after that incident.
Ah, okay! Clarification noted LOL Shades of speech are hard to read sometimes - and some of my puzzlement comes from this explosive reaction that EVERYone seems to be having. I guess I have not invested myself very emotionally in this manga -- I like the story, it's interesting - but don't Love it - like some obviously do! Hahaha
Slowly the clouds draw back on this, and light is revealing the delusions. Like it!
Why thank you! Chalk it up to too many books I have read floating around like ominous storm clouds in my brain, here some Chaucer (the naughty boy), there some Frost, and over in the corner, huddling over a small brazier, Mr. Shakespeare himself mumbling in iambic pentameter. *snicker* Poor William!
A fan of the classics, ne? Bobby Frost is a fave. LOL "Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening" has the best ending line and I use it often... "And miles to go before I sleep". I remember the first time I used it, too. We were having late night rehearsals for a play in high school, they were dragging on forever, and I heaved a deep sigh and said that line... my drama coach stared at me with her mouth open and then said, "I had no idea you were such a deep person." I just smiled at her and closed my eyes as if to nap. Wow, thanks for helping me remember such a great moment. LOL (▰˘◡˘▰)
Do you remember, or have you seen, the movie "The Outsiders"? Frost's "Nothing gold can stay" is used to depict the sense of loss when Johnny dies. It was so beautiful and heart wrenching. That was what inspired me to read more of Frost's works and I became an immediate fan for life. My middle son became a fan the same way. (⌒▽⌒)
Finally caught up on all the chapters - I am surprised there are any buildings left standing ... but this just seems to be a manga of one-upmanship for the most part. I love the art, but ... well ... the tropes seem to be kind of similar to Bleach, Naruto and others and it is a little um, bland.
