The emotional turmoil of losing your beloved combined with the prospect of seeing the son of your beloved is hard. Your secret affair with your lover does not provide you with the opportunity to a visible part of that person life and certainly not after his/her death. You are not a priority if your lover won't announce your relationship; you are probably second or third to someone else. A mentor who preyed on a young student and a child who knew that his father was not loyal and honest with his family. A shattering moment for the young lover to know that his lover left him a monument... a cup, something that could break easily.

This was a really nice, touching read, aimed for mature audiences. What's the yaoi equivalent of josei, I wonder? Either way, it was beautifully written, the expression of Nakamichi's emotions were so vivid I found myself tearing up. Also, loved the nice bits of humor scattered throughout as a buffer for the drama. That crying face was hilarious!

I just couldn't bring myself to like this story. It left a sour taste in my mouth from the very start. I mean there is really no excuse for having an affair with a married man regardless of how battered his home already is. If he was divorced then I would understand maybe. No matter how much of a fujoshi or fudanshi we are I doubt anyone can accept this situation. And sorry but it's just too unrealistic that the son would fall for him like that. I mean that'd be sick
Sorry but the story is just downright unrealistic.

In my opinion I didn't really like this manga although it was a good manga but it's just too much drama that went on. Kind of wished the guy didn't get together with the other guy's father then maybe I would have liked it much more.

I love this author so goddamn much. Their way of writing emotional development is so fantastic. Sensei remains affected by tsutsumi-senseis death throughout the whole story, it isnt just forgotten like some other mangas might do. It rlly is unfortunate that her mangas arent more mainstream, i think shes one of the few authors willing to explore tougher topics and she does it really well.

i was bothered with Nakamichi's love for Tsutsumi's father at first but am so glad that the author took time for them to get together and that Tsutsumi wasn't pushing it too hard for him to get Nakamichi. it was well written and has a great closure. at least we're left to imagine how their relationship would bloom from the last page.

A beautiful story, has funny moments, sad parts and develops the plot in a decent way. I think the ending was a bit rushed, but good story nonetheless.

An interesting take on the lives impacted by an extra-marital affair. The main culprit, a director in a hospital who preyed on an emotionally vulnerable male subordinate, Nakamichi, and had a secret affair with him for years, is now in a coma. His wife doesn't care about him any more (well, he deserves that) but his lover still secretly takes care of him. Nakamichi's position is quite sad in that he was lured into the relationship when he was young and vulnerable. He fell in love with the wrong person and ended up in a relationship that is never openly acknowledged. He feels guilty about the relationship and has to face the son of his lover who joins the hospital as his subordinate. He has to deal with a painful love, loss and guilt all by himself with no one to rely on (possibly the reason he was chosen to be the secret lover). When the director dies, it's quite pitiable how his son and wife (who couldn't care less) are called in to grieve while the one who is truly grieving has no right to be there. It's heartening to see him move away, find himself and move on, before falling in love all over again, this time with someone will who love him enough to openly acknowledge him.

What a great place in this story so mature and beautiful but in some way it feels incomplete I hope I find a second story of these couple

This was a bittersweet story that dealt with some complex issues in a mature manner. Paediatrician Nakamichi sensei was in an adulterous relationship with his married mentor who died in the beginning of the story. I hate cheaters so feeling empathy for the grieving man shows how skilful the mangaka was with establishing that relationship. Tsutsumi knew of his fathers affair and was very hostile towards Nakamichi when he joined the hospital as an intern. However, he softened towards the grieving paediatrician as he worked with him and saw the kindness in his fathers lover. And the loneliness. These two falling for each other took time because Nakamichi kept the younger man at a distance while he focused on moving through his grief. I appreciated that he dealt with things, took control of his life and regained his smile without needing Tsutsumi. If he hadn’t done that, I would have struggled with the thought that Tsutsumi was merely a replacement for his father. It’s important to be happy and healthy in yourself to offer the best you have to someone you love, especially when it’s a tangled romance such as this. By the end of this manga, the two MCs gave the feeling of fated mates or destined lovers. It was beautiful (though I would have loved to have had some sexy scenes between them) and the ending left me with no doubts that these two would have a wonderful life together in their busy little rural hospital.

Nostalgic and heavy. Stories with deceased lovers are always difficult…

I'm sorry but I'm not giving it 5/5 because I feel like it didn't end. What would Nakamichi feel after living together for some years? I don't think he should forget his love for the old man but I want to know if someday he'll wake up thinking "ah, in the end I want to keep being with him in the afterlife" or if he'd rather meet the old man.
I'm no wishing for a pink end, I just want to know what's the real him when he's not the rollercoaster. After experiencing two different kinds of relationship, what will he say?
It was really touchy, whenever he cried I felt a hole in my soul. He only had that old man in his life, he was his world but didn't receive the same mount of love. After experiencing an unconditional love, what will he say? Would he ever recognize that he was the other and now he's the one?

This mangaka's works are always like this but the way seme basically son who lost his father and had affair with a man , doesn't this make you angry i sometimes don't understand characters in such type of stories I never experienced such things but if I put myself in the shoes of son I would definitely hate his lover so bad rather than Falling in love with him but still it was quite mature that it didn't shown as some of those yaois where they compare themselves to their father.
