I hated this. I hated absolutely everything about this, and anything that is good about it is soured by the rest of it; a cheating slut uke, and on top of that, every character in this story is just a massive fucking cunt.
Truthfully, as soon as I got even a hint of what the premise would be, I already knew I wouldn't like this. It was just inherently set up to fail because the entire premise is something I always hate. It didn't have good groundwork.
Jin Seungju and Park Hyeseong are in a dying relationship. Hyeseong just doesn't seem to put in any effort, no matter how hard Seungju tries, and is perfectly content to just watch their love wither away. Desperate to fix their relationship, Seungju suggests inviting a third just for a night, merely just to rile him up and hopefully make him jealous, but instead of being jealous, Hyeseong seems excited by the idea and agrees.
Hyeseong takes a photo of Seungju, uploads it onto a hook-up app, and ends up inviting a man he thinks Seungju would find attractive—but when the third man arrives, Seungju instantly realizes that he knows him. It's his classmate, Jeong Inu.
It's hard to start talking about with what I disliked since there's so much, but I think I'll begin with just the base premise.
In a simplified manner, I just think the plot is awful. It's set up to fall into every single trope I hate with threesome stories, with the main one being that it always feels like a main couple and their side-piece. This story, as expected, is no exception. By the end of the story, Inu just felt like some spare dick to fill Seungju up, despite them ending the story in what's essentially a three-person relationship. It was just incredibly uneven, though it does feel as though that was purposeful. By the end, it just felt like both of them were just dicks for Seungju to use. It wasn't a real relationship. In fact, the story ends with Seungju (somewhat) cheating. Like what the fuck? He's the biggest fucking slut I think I've ever seen and I hate him. He's a degenerate.
To get back on track, another big issue with the premise I have is just the fact that it's stupid. Obviously, inviting a third guy into your dying relationship isn't going to fix it. And it evidently doesn't fix their relationship, considering the ending.
Another thing I really didn't like was Hyeseong's character, just in his entirety. You're introduced to him as being completely indifferent to his boyfriend, genuinely not even seeming as though he likes him. He seems excited when a third guy is brought up, but then as soon as it turned out that Seungju knew Inu, he's the most jealous man alive. And he's aggressive in his jealousy. It makes borderline no sense, and it just feels completely inauthentic.
If this story were slightly rewritten to be that Seungju and Hyeseong's sex life was what was dying, and not their relationship as a whole, then this story easily could've worked—especially as the ending sets up that despite everything that happened, their three-way relationship isn't enough for Seungju—but that's not what this story is. It simply just fails. Seungju just obviously did not love him anymore, so his pulling the whole jealous boyfriend act is just frustrating. I mean fuck, he hadn't even kissed Seungju in God knows how long. In chapter two, Seungju asks Inu to kiss him, since he wasn't ever getting kisses from Hyeseong . . . And that makes Hyeseong jealous. Like dude, you've had fucking ages to give him all the kisses you want, and you did jack shit. Fuck off. And again, it's frustrating because it would've been so easy to just slightly alter this story so that it's a classic tale of Hyeseong realizing just how much Seungju means to him now that he almost lost him, but it doesn't come across like that. It came across like he wanted to own Seungju without really liking Seungju. Fuck him.
When it comes to Inu's character, I'm . . . Conflicted, in a way. I just feel like he was introduced as basically a love rival, with him confessing his own feelings to Seungju and pulling a "I can treat you better than he does" bit. But then by the end of the story, he goads Seungju on into making Hyeseong jealous and stuff, so it kinda just looks like he's in it for the sex. It's like two different characters. At the end of the day, he didn't feel like a real character. He felt more like a plot device. His personality and his relationship with the characters all depended on what the scene needed.
Fuck Seungju. I've basically already said why I hate him: the cheating. After the three of them have sex for the first time, Inu surprises him at school, and they end up fucking in some classroom. He cheats on Hyeseong in that moment. And at the end of the story, the very last chapter, it's set half a year later, and Seungju and Inu are out alone, with Hyeseong being busy with his job. Inu suggests they go to a hotel, and when they get to the hotel, he then suggests having a "stranger" meet them so that they can have a third person involved, since Seungju is just such a massive cock-hungry slut. And Seungju agrees. From a reader's perspective, you instantly know that the stranger isn't going to a stranger. It's going to be Hyeseong. But the thing is that Seungju doesn't know that. He's literally just fine with cheating on him, he barely even questions it. What a shitty fucking way to end the story. This fucking sucked. I hated it.
I gave this story one star, but if I could, it'd be zero.
