It’s a comedy show; devourer got a “great purpose” for keeping the empire and humans alive; as the story goes on, you understand more and more about why devourer is now a lazy bum and why he acts the way he does; I like how we begin to understand more about devourer’s perspective on the world; it’s very interesting how the story unfolds.
