slice of life done to perfection. highlights the convoluted social minutiae that make up our daily lives and prioritizes emotional realism: the ways in which we perform, and negotiate with the people around us. friendship, and love, and the complexities of all of it.

shima's growth and development is so satisfying to watch (the difficulties of dealing with childhood trauma!). being popular doesn't mean you have it all together. him slowly opening up, learning to love because of mitsumi...they are such perfect foils to one another. his detachment contrasted with mitsumi's open vulnerability, his lack of motivation vs mitsumi's passion.
mitsumi pursuing shima, and then shima pursuing mitsumi... genius. she fell first but he fell harder. love love love how they draw their relationship out without needless drama. it just feels so natural (love is hard all on its own, no sticky misunderstandings necessary). manifesting mukai x mika, yuzu x mako (my girls!), and mitsumi x shima, obviously
