This manga is such a classic, iconic, kick-ass read. The movie adaptation has stood the test of time and is definitely one of the best overall anime experiences.
One of the BEST manga/anime of all time. The storyline is thorough and thought out, the characters are riveting and unique, and the helplessness that follows through the entirety of the read/watch stays with you for months after finishing. It's similar to Grave of the Fireflies, in the sense that you will never want to read it or watch it ever again, but it is SO necessary. Highly highly recommend 11/10.
The manga that inspired Alita: Battle Angel. It is an absolutely beautiful read, with gorgeous old-anime art styles, storytelling, and fantastic character development. I have a feeling it was inspired by Astro Boy but from a woman's perspective... But it is absolutely different on fundamental levels, so who knows?
Definitely one of the best by far. It recently got a Netflix anime adaptation, which I also HIGHLY recommend. It is engaging, wild, unlike anything else, and extremely memorable female characters that kick ass and take names.
A fairly popular older manga with an excellent anime adaptation with multiple seasons. This story is very engaging, the characters are like able, and has some extremely creative character designs that just hook you!
Rumiko Takahashi presents The Dog-Demon Boy! Now this one, right here... This one takes the cake in favorites for me. It's got everything you could ever, ever ask for - INCREDIBLE storytelling, deeply rooted Japanese culture, engaging characters, high stakes, a threatening villain, some of the best character design of any anime I've seen to date - and it STILL holds up today. Literally, the only flaw I have is that it goes on a bit too long at the end. But other than that, it is nearly perfect.
