This remains a tragedy if you ignore the extra stories. The author said they were drawn to non-superficial love and that resonated with me. what I liked about Itou-san was that the love was there and it carried them so far but in the end, it wasn't enough (reprised ending excluded lol). It gave Leon The Professional vibes but with adult content.
Tropes: different worlds, secret identity, dude in distress, emotional scars
The tragedies are always extremely long or far too short. Prepare to have your heart ripped out in a single understated chapter.
The Inheritance of Aroma is provocative and perverse. However, as the title suggests, there is a seduction that tempts the reader to continue, much like an aphrodisiac. Incest features heavily in this one and may not be suitable for everyone. This is a Shakespearean tragedy in manga form.
I am deeply in love with this art style. The setting, the cast of characters, and the age group all stir up this sense of nostalgia that almost aches. The Summer Hikaru Died is plot-driven, has an appealing premise, captivating art, and dynamic characters. I pre-ordered the English copy of the first book before I even finished reading it. If you're thinking about reading this one, then stop thinking, just do it!
I consider this a tragedy because the love was there, but it shouldn't have been. They were two people in six billion that shouldn't have been together. It was all wrong. In reading this I discovered that something so short and completely unhinged could also be irresistible.
An Uncomfortable Truth has a unique plot and interesting characters though they are incredibly naive and honestly, stupid. The foundation is shakey since the entire conflict could have been solved by a simple action from any one of the characters but I was willing to put that aside for the vibes. I am a sucker for a dark story that doesn't have all its problems magically solved and questions answered. I was certainly uncomfortable by the end.
Escape Into Oblivion is so unhinged. I never realized how completely spellbound I would be for a man who brings me the actual TEETH of another man who hurt me. Fantastic and twisted in the best way. It is quite tragic when you really consider the relationships between the characters.
The author really got us with a zinger in the end. I am a sucker for an open ending. Indeed, this would be a fantastic story if it were fully fleshed out in a seven-point act. It is excellent as a short story but damn, the potential is there.
