Barefoot Gen. ..oh f*ck. Where to begin? Grave of the Fireflies is brutal, but this? This is devastating. This gave me nightmares for weeks. I have read this once, saw the anime and. ..never again. There are some light moments, but what stands out is Gen's determination to live at any and all costs, despite the trials he endures. Beautiful, if you can stand the truth and brutality within. Highly recommended for those who are supreme masochists.
