Kakei's confession to Asano sets the ball rolling for these two to know each other in the prickliest way possible, despite the both of them being reserved people. There's a chapter for the quiet Asano that explains his psyche very well which also ended up being absolutely hilarious.

The story plays on the popular x unpopular trope that starts with the two going out because of Mr. Popular's confession, and though some of the angst stems from it, the growth of their relationship in a thoughtful, no-nonsense manner.
