**SPOILERS FROM THE NOVEL**
Yea he keeps up this act for quite a while but from where I’m reading it seems he’s slowly letting her do her thing as she’s learning magic with Ruth. It bothers me as well tho but what can you expect from a medieval man who went on a suicide mission not knowing if he’ll ever be able to see the wife he treated so badly ever again…?
In what way does he treat her like an object you have to remember this is different times you can’t look at it from a point of view from this century it just don’t work also the knowledge he has of her is only what he’s heard from other people and the lies her family told just like the conversation they just had he doesn’t know the real her so he can’t treat her any way else he treats her according to what he knows and how she acts. She hasn’t told him anything about her past and is only now telling him the things she likes treating her with over protectiveness or with extra care isn’t objectifying her
"No you can't do things with Ruth because you're fragile!" His attitude gets annoying quickly. I hope Lonely Person is right. I know it's a different century, but not everyone in the manwha treats her like she's at risk just for sitting with another man. Just Riftan. He seems to have a real concept of "She's mine, so I want to isolate her and be the only one who lifts her up." I don't know bro
Ummm I’m confused where you got that from yes even if he’s protective of her with other guys one we know he feels inadequate because she ignored their marriage for a long time (even though that wasn’t her fault) and two he was questioning ruth because he literally says I know you so dangerous experiments that’s literally why he has a tower worrying that she would get hurt because he knows she fragile he was literally told she has a weak body and can’t handle stuff like that he doesn’t know the truth he’s only reacting to the situation with the knowledge he has of her yes maybe he was jealous but I don’t see how that means he wants to isolate her he never says anything like that or acts like that he even told her the castle is yours this territory is hers and he wants her to get used to it isn’t that the opposite of what you said he isn’t perfect and neither is she if we can expect her quirks and not judge them the same standard needs to be held for him he already feels like he’s less than and what’s why he wants to show he can provide for her
From what I see he is being careful with her. we all know that Maxi came from a well of family so Riftan knows that the ladies born from a wealthy family are mostly not groomed to do such things like what Ruth is teaching Maxi. He also saw her during her childhood that's why he had the notion that Maxi is being treated and most valued by his father because she's fragile. Riftan sometimes acts insecure towards her because of what happend in the past like he send his men to fetch Maxi but she did not come with them so he taught that she doesnt wants to be with him not knowing that it was her fathers fault that's why he is trying his best to give everything to match up the things that Maxi grew up with.

Here u go!
I’m on chapter 139 and things seem to be improving :D

He treats her like an object that will break if touched. It's definitely not doing anything good for her self esteem. Always making a big deal out of her naievety. Too bad Ruth won't be an actual love interest, from what I can tell. He actually believes in her and is confident that she can do anything she sets her mind to, even if he is whiney about it.
Being posessive can be cool and all during sex but jesus it gets annoying.
