The drama doesn't hold a candle to the manhua. The actors don't suit the characters. The plot was more focused on romance than in the manhua. I find it hard to believe the original author had any input in the drama at all, because the whole vibe is different from the manhua. I'll just keep rereading the manhua instead.
That is so true...never did like the drama version. The manhua is more plot-centric and the subtle romance is the cherry on top. Re-read it four times and each time I learn something new that I haven't noticed before. The latest chapters were the best part of the story. Loved it to death. I'd go back to it even if I'm old XD
Yeah…after I wrote the comment I went to go skim what happens in the drama out of curiosity and I seriously questioned my life choices after that…the plot was quite different than what I had expected, and they felt out of character and their motives were very romance motivated which is not the case in the manga. Also two of the biggest plot points where they go to find their families got cut out probably because censorship because we can’t have two main characters who aren’t fully Han chinese ig
I've found a post on twitter from @/MangaMoguraRE from Jul 30 speaking about this news, hope that helps!

Yeah... I watched the cdrama too. Tbh I was set off by the dynamic they forced, the cliché romance etc, subplot and cliche that felt very soap opera like. I think what put me off (feel free to disagree) was Chang ge going often "Is it because I'm a girl?". I don't know it made me cringe. Like both in this comic and first episodes they clairified she is highly respected for her wits, why would the drama bring that up often. Like everyone went after her in the comic because they knew what she is capable and is not underestimating her bc of genders at all. Ngl drama was good but didn't capture the charm of the comic which for me was the protag change of heart in pursuing revenge and the 2 leads pursue of their roots and family and their reversal position after. Her from runaway and military advisor to princess and him from general to a prisoner of war and receiving help from her (the same way he did when he took her under his wing).

Heard somewhere (her twitter, i guess) that the author will continue working on this one after she's done with her current manhua (Song of the Sky Walkers)....
