it would've been a normal story with a healthy dynamics. yeah not happening man some publishers still push these toxic narratives (blackmailing, rape, power imbalance etc) just cuz they think it sells well. maybe it does, I don't know their numbers, but it's hella frustrating

Exactly like my point. Nothing would've changed but authors either don't know how to write a healthy relationship, or they don't care. It's sad honestly
about the setting though, I feel like it is college indeed. college/uni can be still called school. and they mentioned seminar/lecture/majoring in law, stuff like that..

true, a lot of authors just settle for an outdated template instead of creating something fresh. that's why I'm over the moon whenever I manage to find something that has proper WRITING done, has interesting premise and character development. it's tough to say the least
