To me Joo Jaekyung is better. Obviously non con aspect is present in both manhwa. But Jaekyung atleast is somewhat professional, went out of his way to pay extra for grandmas hospital fee. And Wooyeon is just a psycho.

I think it's the verbal abuse that trigger them. That's the most common type of abuse so it's probably the most relatable one.
Almost everyone encounter it in their life, one way or another, so it's more likely to create an emotional response.

I think it's cuz the work is just so popular lol. Ppl were expecting more quality from Minghwa, who had written a similar narrative in BJ Alex but in that the top is nowhere near as shitty as Jaekyung. There's prolly some other reasons too but these are just my 2 cents.

The reason I put them in same toxicity is because I don't excuse one act over entire behaviour. Don't care if he payed for the service or was nice to the granny or is blackmailer if you are toxic I draw the line period. If I find excuses over one thing people build adaptation and in time will find excuses for another and another. This is how abusers test the waters and develop toxic relationships first is a slap, then excuse , then is a kick etc. That's not healthy relationship anyway you slice it both of the mangas has toxic relationships and I hope the ukes to get their sh** together and get away of this both deserve better than this. I think we all quite agree that both MLs are toxic, just that we think one is actually worse than the other, especially in the context of the OP's comparison between the two series. By your logic, prison time should be the same for all crimes, i.e. both petty crime and federal crime should receive life sentences lol.

And if you personally feel like you're getting desensitized to these kinds of themes, I suggest you step away from reading them. I've encountered fiction like these for so many years, and I could honestly say that they're just as bad as the first one I've ever read. Maybe the shock factor has faded, but the dread and the grief and the empathy only ever remained, and even deepened as I matured. I think that kind of thing you're describing is a personal problem with the foundation of the individual's morality and the strength of their mentality imo.
