I was also weary but it’s definitely not incest. FL is the daughter of a woman who keeps getting married into money (for the sake of her kids) and her 4th engagement is to the duke (who’s son is the ML). The FL has a dream that when her mom marries the duke, he will quickly kills her and her brother. She tries to get the engagement called off by other means but in the end the FL and ML choose to marry before her mom and the duke so they’ll have no choice but to cancel that engagement

What? That's a stupid decision because either way she is gonna married into the same house that the father is supposed to kill her. Where is the logic in this? You know what why do I even try with logic? This is gonna be one of the most illogical webtoons that will try to make it seem like a logical decision she made.

The duke father cannot kill her family if she marries his son because then she can't get the mom's inheritance, which was the reason why he wanted to marry her mom and kill them all after. There's a law that says that while the inheritance beloning to the FL's mother's can be passed to the mother's husband (if her mom dies), it can't be passed to the mother's daughter's (the FL's) husband, so now there is no point in the duke killing them, unless he gets the FL's marriage to his son annuled, so that he can marry her mother. The duke's son hates him because he found out the duke secretly murdered his own birth mom (the duke's first wife) when he was a child, and made it pass as a suicide: the FL knows this and the duke's son finds this out soon enough, so while sharing that secret the two grow to trust each other and start plotting together to bring down his evil murderer of a father.

(The stepdad's son wouldn't be able to inherit by marrying her, because law dictates only her mom's direct widower would, and not her mom's son-in-law).

Thank you all for summarizing and explaining the plot. The inheritance complicated the shit out of it, also why doesn't FL hire someone to protect her and marry the mom it would be the same person. They will sign a contract now that would be a worthwhile plot. Or we can kill off the mother and let FL marry someone else not related to Psycho Duke. With all honesty, it makes 0 sense for her to marry into the psycho Duke family. Now, from JayJay Im back words FL marry the ML, that means he gets the inheritance because he's her husband, but will it not still belong to the family? The Duke can kill her and make the son a widower, and then kill off the son, now the inheritance is in the Psycho Duke family so in short it's back to square 1. Listen, this shit is illogical. i'm not reading this shit
