Guys, i’m a bit slow, can someone tell me what the fl did wrong? For being a noble woman that contrast the shitty life of the male lead? For her father sin? For being someone unreachable for the ml? The ml is sick in the head and is a bipolar fool perhaps? Sorry

It’s not that she did anything wrong in a “direct” way. It’s more so that she wronged people in her life by proxy. As a noble you have a certain responsibility and obligation to your constituents and the territory over which you preside/oversee (especially being the child of a marquess). But instead of facing things head on she always turned a blind eye. She lived in a bubble and always ran away from anything unpleasant or inconvenient.

For example, when Catherine came to the gates of the mansion hollering and screaming and Annette didn’t bother looking into why she was even there. Or when Heiner spoke about his comrades and friends dying during his missions and she could care less. She gave him an insincere response like oh, “they gave their lives for the nation” or something like that. Granted, Annette is a product of her environment so it wouldn’t be right to say she’s completely at fault but nevertheless, ignorance does not save you from punishment. Just like not knowing the law doesn’t save you from unknowingly breaking it and getting arrested.

The characters are multifaceted which I personally love. It’s hard to fully hate a character but it’s also hard to fully love them. People aren’t perfect. We’re perfectly imperfect.

Hi. Thank you for your thorough explanation to me! I was a bit harsh when talking about the ml I’m sorry for that. I just finished the story and couldn’t help but felt angry with the ml for ripping everything off the fl and continue to make her life miserable after all that (which in my opinion I think it’s kind of too much of a punishment for her when she wasn’t exactly the one that cause the suffering). And the environment she was raised in just like you said is the reason for her ignorance. It kind of put me off how the ml went from being stone cold for 3 years to an anxious husband after the fl lose the will to live. Well, that’s the part that makes the story fun I suppose. It’s true that the imperfection of the character is well written in the story, enough to make me go crazy lol. There are many ways to look at the story which contradict in my mind sometimes. Again, thank you for explaining to me, I definitely realized a lot of things from you. Have a good day!
