It’s alittle hard for me too just because I’ll have to reread it fully when it’s finished but from what I gathered, the bottom works for a congresswoman and for her to achieve something they are tearing down old buildings which everyone has agreed to except for the gym which the top owns and is refusing to unless the bottom has sex with him and I think is revealing basically messed up political things
So basically the older guy works for this congresswoman (i don’t remember but she’s a political figure), she’s trying to get a couple of districts urbanized, but one district is halting the whole project. That is why the older guy was sent to convince younger guy to sell his gym so the project can begin, and there won’t be any setbacks. The reason they’re so stubborn and won’t let him keep the gym, is because it can taint political and investment opportunities. It’s genuinely gentrification at its core and the poor neighborhood doesn’t benefit from it because they will be displaced.
This was a so much better explanation then mine and it made sense to me more bc while I got it there was still gaps I wasn’t understanding but I get it now
